Shellac nails

Shellac nails

What is Shellac?

Shellac is the brand name for a new, patent pending nail product created by Creative Nail Design. It is a hybrid, meaning half nail polish, half gel. The product is thin and strong enough to be applied similarly to nail polish, but it is cured in a way that gives it great flexibility and durability. It also has the incredible shine associated only with gel nails.

Who is Shellac best suited for?

Shellac is for people who want to maintain natural nails. The formulation looks as good from day 1 to day 14, but does not appear to damage nail beds.

How is Shellac different from the traditional polish manicure and what are the benefits?

Typical nail polish dries by evaporation, which means your manicure is not cured until 2-3 hours after your service. Think about it - most of your manicure time is spent waiting for polish to dry. But Shellac is cured by UV light, and within minutes. Your nails are completely dry by the time your manicure is over, and strong enough to withstand accidental knocks. It acts like a plasticized coating, suitable as a long lasting polish.

Massage

Massage is used to maintain physical health as well as inducing relaxation. It helps to alleviate the build up of stress and tension in the muscles from every day use. I use two massage techniques - Swedish massage and aromatherapy massage. Aromatherapy massage uses massage techniques specifically aimed to relax your muscles as the main purpose is to increase oxygen flow to the muscles and aid the body to remove the build up of toxins. Swedish massage tends to be a much deeper massage than the Aromatherapy therefore is more suited to sports people.

Hot Stone Therapy

Hot stone therapy is an exciting massage where basalt stones are heated and applied to the body in totally unique, and super relaxing ways.

Harmonizing, restoring and rejuvenating the body at its deepest level.

Hot stone therapy goes beyond the physical experience of typical massage and enters deeper dimensions of relaxation, health and well-being. Physically the circulation and metabolism are stimulated; mentally the client reaches a state of deep relaxation and spiritually is balanced whilst healing takes place. Hot stone therapy combines traditional massage with the use of smooth, heated basalt stones, which are applied to the body as an extension of the therapists hands. Cold stones can also be used to aid healing and this therapy is clinically known as "Geothermotherapy". The massage is 10 times more effective than a normal massage. The warmth of these heated stones penetrates muscles and balances the nervous system like no other treatment. Crystals can be used during the treatment to help balance the bodys energy chakras.

Reiki

Reiki is a safe, gentle, non-intrusive, hands on energy healing technique. It can help balance and harmonise mind, body and spirit.

It is a holistic treatment for balancing, healing and harmonising all aspects of a human body, mind and spirit. The Japanese word reiki is translated 'Universal life-force energy'. 'Rei' means 'Universal' and 'Ki' means 'Life force energy'. Everybody has an energy life force running through them, when you become ill or stressed the energy pathways get blocked. Reiki helps to unblock them so that it runs more freely which in effect helps to balance and harmonise body mind and spirit.

During a Reiki session, I will take you through a consultation and explain what happens during a session. The treatment lasts approximately 1 hour. It is advised to relax after the treatment and not to participate in any strenuous exercise.

Reflexology

Reflexology has become a popular alternative therapy in the UK during recent years. It has been around for 4000 years and was first used in the middle and eastern continents and was introduced to the Western world during the early 1900's. It is based on the theory that reflex areas on the feet and hands are linked to organs and other areas of the body within the same zone.

A unique massaging method is used by the reflexologist on the patients hands and feet to bring the patient back to an optimal balance of mental and physical well being. Today, reflexology has been recognised to help with a long list of conditions from migraine to sporting injuries and has helped people with pain relief from more serious disease such as cancer. Reflexology should not be used to replace medical care or practice but should be regarded as complimentary to it. Recent scientific studies have been carried out on the effectiveness of reflexology as a treatment. Current results look strong in the areas of stress and pain reduction and pre-menstrual syndrome.

Waxing

All of the basic waxing treatments along with a selection of specialist waxing treatments are available.

Prior to the treatment - I will cleanse the area using a specially formulated pre-cleansing lotion. I will then apply a high quality cream warm wax and remove the unwanted hair. You should ensure that the hair to be waxed is a minimum of around 0.75cm - 1cm so that the wax will take to the hair effectively. This is normally around 2 weeks post-shaving growth for most ladies or 4-6 weeks post waxing.

Once the waxing has been completed, a soothing tea tree lotion is applied to nourish and calm the skin helping it to recover quickly from the waxing treatment.

Facials

Using Tropic Skincare we offer a range of facials for all skin types and conditions. I analyse your skin condition on arrival and advise on which facial treatment is best for your individual needs.

You will also receive a relaxing face, neck and shoulder massage with every facial treatment carried out at the salon. Having a regular facial is a great way to relax with many clients finding these treatments to be extremely stress relieving.
